Youth Hunting in B.C. – Regulations and Licensing

In British Columbia, a youth hunter is defined as someone who is 10 years of age or older but under 18. Individuals under 10 years old are prohibited from hunting wildlife. Anyone who allows or causes a person under the age of 10 to hunt is committing an offence.
Eligibility for Youth Hunting: A youth hunter in B.C. may hunt if they have either:
- A Youth Hunting Licence
- A Resident Hunting Licence (if the youth has completed hunting safety training)
Supervision Requirement: A youth hunter must always be accompanied by a supervising hunter during their hunt.
Youth Hunting Licence Details:
- No Safety Training Requirement: A youth does not need to have completed hunting safety training to obtain a youth hunting licence.
- Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID): The youth must have a verified Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID) to purchase the licence.
- Cost: The youth hunting licence costs $7.00 plus tax. For more information, visit the hunting licence fees page.
- Parental/Guardian Responsibility: A parent or legal guardian must purchase and hold the youth hunting licence for the minor.
