How to Apply for a Canadian Firearms Licence as a Minor

To apply for a Canadian firearms licence as a minor, you must be between 12 and 17 years old, pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, and have a parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative sign your application.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: You must be between 12 and 17 years old.
  • Canadian Firearms Safety Course: Successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and associated tests.
  • Parent or Guardian Signature: A parent, legal guardian, or someone authorized to act on your behalf must sign your application.
  • Waiver Option: If there is no one available to sign on your behalf, you can request a waiver (exemption) for this requirement.
  • Additional Signature for Minors Over 14: Minors aged 14 or older must also sign the application themselves.

Application Process:

  • Online Application: You must submit your application online.
  • Application Package: Use the application package for minors (Form 5(1)).
  • Signatures Required: A parent, legal guardian, or an authorized representative must sign the application.
